Do you charge commission on my orders?
No. Lab 84 does not charge a percentage commission or a per-order fee.
You will still pay the normal transaction charges applied by your chosen payment provider. These charges are paid to the payment provider rather than Lab 84.
Why is there a monthly fee?
Your monthly fee keeps the website and ordering system hosted, updated, backed up and supported after launch.
An ordering website is an active business system rather than a static brochure. It needs reliable hosting, security monitoring, software updates and ongoing technical maintenance to continue operating properly.
Your plan also gives you access to Lab 84 support and an allowance for small menu or website updates each month.
Do customers need to download an app?
No. Customers place their order through your website using the browser on their mobile, tablet or computer.
The ordering area is mobile friendly and designed to provide a straightforward, app-like experience without requiring a separate download.
Can I offer both collection and delivery?
Yes. You can offer collection, local delivery or both.
We will configure the relevant ordering options, opening availability, delivery areas, minimum order requirements and delivery charges based on the information you provide.
Can customers order for a specific time?
Exact collection and delivery time slots are included with the Advanced package.
The Direct package supports ASAP ordering and advance ordering by date, but does not include customer-selected time slots.
Can customers customise their food?
Advanced item customisation is included with the Advanced package.
This can be used for options such as pizza toppings, burger extras, spice levels, sides, sauces, meal upgrades and dietary substitutions.
The Direct package is more suitable for businesses selling straightforward menu items that do not require extensive customer selections.
Can customers pay cash?
Cash payment can be enabled where appropriate.
You decide which payment options are available for collection and delivery orders.
Will you upload my complete menu?
Each package includes menu setup up to the stated product allowance.
You must provide complete and accurate product names, descriptions, prices, categories, allergen information and photographs.
Larger or unusually complex menus may require an additional data-entry charge, which will be agreed before work begins.
Can I update the menu myself?
Yes. We can show you how to make straightforward changes to products, prices and availability.
Alternatively, each monthly plan includes a small allowance for Lab 84 to make menu or content changes on your behalf.
Larger updates, seasonal menu replacements and extensive changes may be quoted separately.
Can I temporarily stop accepting orders?
The Advanced package allows your team to pause and resume incoming orders when the kitchen becomes too busy.
With the Direct package, ordering availability can still be managed through your configured business and holiday schedules.
Can you support more than one location?
Multiple business locations are supported through the Advanced package.
Each location can have its own availability, opening hours and ordering settings. Complex delivery rules or significantly different menus may require a separate quotation.
Does the system provide delivery drivers?
No. The website accepts and manages customer orders, but it does not supply delivery drivers.
Your business remains responsible for preparing orders and completing deliveries using your own staff or delivery arrangements.
Can I continue using delivery apps?
Yes. Your direct-ordering website can operate alongside services such as Just Eat, Uber Eats or Deliveroo.
Many businesses continue using marketplace platforms for visibility while encouraging returning customers to order directly through their own website.
Who is responsible for allergen information?
Your business is responsible for providing, checking and maintaining accurate product, ingredient, dietary and allergen information.
Lab 84 will display the information you supply but cannot verify recipes, preparation methods, ingredients or cross-contamination risks.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes. The Direct package can be upgraded when your business requires more advanced options.
We can add features such as timed ordering, product customisation, order limits, table ordering and multiple locations without rebuilding the entire website, subject to a review of your current setup.
How much do I need to pay upfront?
A 50% initial payment secures the project and allows work to begin.
The remaining balance is payable after the website has been approved and before it is launched. Your monthly plan begins when the completed website goes live.
